Steps of construction:

Draw a circle of radius $2.5 cm$ from the centre $O$ .

Join $O A$ , $A$ is the point on circumference of the circle.
Since, we have to construct regular pentagon, we need to divide the circle into five equal parts.

The value of angle subtended by each part at the centre is $\frac{360 °}{5} = 72 °$ .

On $O A$ , draw an angle of $72 °$ at point $O$ , which cuts the circle at $B$ .

Measure the arc $A B$ with compass and mark the points $C, D, E$ on the circle.

Join the points $A, B, C, D, E, F$ to $O$ .

On $O A, O B, O C, O D, O E$ draw a perpendicular lines $T A P, P B Q, Q C R, R D S, S E T$ .

Thus, we get the required pentagon $P Q R S T$ .
